About this tool
To add GST, multiply the price by the rate and add it: GST = price × rate / 100. To remove GST from a price that already includes it, use price without GST = price with GST × 100 / (100 + rate).
For a sale within one state the GST is split equally into CGST (central) and SGST (state). For a sale between states the whole amount is charged as IGST.
The rate depends on the item or service. India moved to two main rates of 5% and 18% from 22 September 2025, with 40% for certain luxury and sin goods and a few special lower rates. The 12% and 28% options remain here for older invoices. Always check the current rate for your product. This is a calculator, not tax advice.

Frequently asked questions
How do I remove GST from a total?
Choose 'Price with GST (remove GST)', enter the total and the rate. The tool divides the total by (100 + rate) / 100 to get the price without GST.
What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?
For a sale inside one state, GST is split equally between the central government (CGST) and the state (SGST). For a sale between two states, the full amount is IGST.
Which GST rate should I use?
It depends on what you are buying or selling. Check the current GST notification or ask your accountant. The calculator only does the arithmetic.
