How to Compress an Image on Your Phone
You do not need an app. Use your phone's browser to reduce a photo to the size you need.
You can compress a photo straight from your phone's browser, without installing anything. The tools on this site run on your device, so your photo is not uploaded anywhere.
Steps
- Open the page for the size you need, for example 100 KB or 50 KB.
- Tap Select Images. Your phone will offer to pick from your gallery or files. The exact options differ between phones and browsers.
- Choose the photo and wait a moment while it is processed.
- Tap Download. The saved file usually appears in your downloads or files area.
- Go back to the form and upload the new file.
Tips for phones
- Photos taken with the camera are large. Compress the original, not a copy that was already shrunk.
- Screenshots are often PNG. Saving them as JPG makes them much smaller; use PNG to 200 KB.
- If you need several photos in one file, try merge images into a PDF.
- If your form needs exact dimensions, use the resize tool first.
If something does not work
Very large images can be slow on older phones. If the page seems stuck, try a smaller original or use a computer browser. Make sure the file is an image such as JPG or PNG.
